Background
Mobile Web is the mobile version of admin portal embedded in the RingCentral mobile app. RingCentral app is for continuous teamwork with messaging, phone calls and video meetings. Mobile Web helps the admins for RingCentral customers configure their phone system.
MW was released before 2010 and use the same tech framework ever since then, which doesn’t support modern technology frame. In addition to the outdated technology, the UX of Mobile Web is old and lack of maintenance. Because of the lack-of-maintenance, currently, there is significant feature and UI gap between Mobile Web and other end points.

Role
As the lead designer, I teamed up with another designer in Europe for the design works. I conducted the initial discovery with PM in US and local PM in Xiamen. After we finalize the solution, I tracked the implementation by collaborating with feature team of 6 engineers.
Problem
Bad search and filter experience for user management
No design when admin tries to search or filter some users.
Company call handling is confusing
Company call handling is the major configuration admin can set up in Mobile admin tool. In company call handling, admin can set up some rules so that the phone system can automatically answer the incoming calls. It’s very confusing to understand the process right now because the visual representation of UI didn’t help admin to understand.
Hard to set schedule
In company call handling configuration, admin is able to define different rules for work hours and after hours. But currently the experience involve a quite complicate interaction.
Goal
The purpose of this project is to migrate legacy Mobile Web to new tech framework which shares the same backend and infrastructure as web admin portal with new design.
Solution Overview
Restructured menu navigation
We refreshed the overall information architecture to make it easy to understand for users.

Card style for user management
Since the user management table is really information-rich on the web, we decided to represent the layout by cards on the mobile. At the same time, admin can filter users through different dimensions including departments, sites, status and so forth.

Illustration of the company call flow
Apply simple graphs to represent the steps of the call flow for the company so that it’s easy to understand.

Easier schedule settings
Redesigned the setting schedule flow to make it easier to use in the mobile devices.
